🎃 ESE Trunk or Treat — Trunk Participant Guidelines
Check-In & Arrival
All participating trunks must complete both check-ins:
1. PTO Check-In
- Check in with the PTO upon arrival.
- Confirm assigned trunk/parking space.
- Receive PTO-provided candy.
- Receive any event-specific instructions.
2. School Check-In
- All trunk participants must also check in at the school front office.
- Follow all school visitor/check-in requirements.
- Wear/retain any visitor identification required by the school.
⏰ Arrival Window
Trunks may arrive between 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM.
The circle drive will be blocked at 5:00 PM.
No late trunk entries will be permitted after 5:00 PM.
Event will promptly start at 6pm and end after the last kid gets trough the Trunks around 7:30
🎃 Decorating Guidelines
Decorations MUST be:
- Family-friendly
- Age-appropriate
- School-appropriate
- Securely attached to the vehicle
- Free of trip hazards
- Safe for children walking around the vehicle
🚫 Not permitted:
- Gore or graphic displays
- Blood or dismemberment effects
- Extremely frightening displays
- Political or controversial displays
- Inappropriate language
- Adult-themed decorations
- Open flames
- Fireworks
- Anything that could injure a child
- Decorations that obstruct pedestrian walkways
- Anything that creates a significant tripping hazard
Vehicle Safety
Vehicles must remain parked and turned off once the circle drive closes. Vehicles may not be moved during the event.
No generators, extension cords, lighting, or other electrical equipment may be used unless approved by the PTO/school in advance.
👻 Costume Guidelines
These apply to all trunk participants, volunteers, and adults attending the event
Costumes should be:
- Family-friendly
- Age-appropriate
- School-appropriate
- Appropriate for an elementary-school environment
🚫 Not permitted:
No full-face masks on adults.
Also:
- No gore
- No graphic wounds
- No realistic blood
- No inappropriate/sexualized costumes
- No offensive costumes
- No costumes depicting hate groups or offensive imagery
- No toy weapons
- No realistic-looking weapons
- No props that could reasonably be mistaken for a weapon
🍬 Candy & Giveaways
PTO Candy
PTO will provide candy to participating trunks.
Each child with a valid wristband receives:
ONE piece of PTO-provided candy at each participating trunk.
Extra Candy
Trunks are not required to provide additional candy, but:
Bringing a few extra bags of individually wrapped candy is highly recommended in case attendance exceeds our expected 600 children.
Businesses
Business trunks may provide their own additional:
- Candy
- Stickers
- Small toys
- Promotional items
- Coupons
- Goodies
These are optional and are in addition to the PTO-provided candy.
All additional items must be age-appropriate and school-appropriate.
🎟️ Wristband Requirement
Please look for a valid event wristband before distributing candy.
No wristband = no candy.
🚨 Event Authority
The ESE PTO and school administration reserve the right to ask a participant to modify or remove any decoration, costume, prop, giveaway, or activity that is deemed inappropriate, unsafe, or inconsistent with school expectations.
Participants who do not follow event or school guidelines may be asked to leave the event.
